This year's Blueberry Blast Festival will be held between July 30-31 as part of a larger Celebrate Nipigon! festival in the downtown core of Nipigon. The format this year is a street fair, so there will be no admission fee onto the grounds. Friday July 29th will be the Paddle to the Sea Jubilee, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the beloved book, from 11am to 5pm. There will be a Waterwalker Film Festival Saturday, July 30th at 7:30pm inspired by conservationist, canoeist and Oscar nominated filmmaker Bill Mason. Our own plans for this year include: Guided berry picking, local craft and food sales including our all-day Blueberry Blast BBQ, live music for ambiance, face painting, learning fun with Science North, a guided hike, the Farmtastical Magic Show and balloon twisting, Tai Chi, Zumba, children's games and activities all day, yoga and more! There will be several attendance draws held throughout the weekend. You can find the full schedule of events for the Blueberry Blast itself [here]. Note: the pancake breakfast has been cancelled.
The Blueberry Blast will also have a presence at the 1st annual Summer Fiesta in Nipigon, taking place on July 20th from 3pm to 8pm at the Nipigon Legion, Branch 32. Come out and see us and maybe pick up some hand-crafted items and other local fare, it looks like it'll be a packed house so don't miss it!
